The history of Nkrumahfest

Nkrumahfest, also called the "Journey to Nkroful," is a yearly celebration that honors Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana and a worldwide symbol of Pan-Africanism, as well as his life, legacy, and lasting influence.

The Nkroful Community Development Association (NCDA), along with the Chief and Elders of Nkroful, Dr. Nkrumah's custodial family, and other stakeholders, came up with the idea for the celebration. It was intended to be a means of:

  • honoring Nkroful as Nkrumah's birthplace and initial resting place.

  • honoring his legacy as a liberator and supporter of African unification.

  • utilizing tourism, education, and culture as instruments for local and national growth.

Nkrumahfest was founded by Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah in 2011.
